Cards offering rental car insurance?

Amex offers auto rental insurance coverage, but not sure what other credit card companies do. Does Discover, Citibank or Alliant Credit Union offer coverage? What other banks or Credit Unions offer this perk? This is a great way to save money when you travel often because of work and leisure.

Re: Cards offering rental car insurance?

Car Rental Insurance is not offered by Banks but by VISA/MC/Discover. They offer only LDW not third party insurance.

You have to call Customer care of VISA / MC or Discover to file claims.

Sounds like that type of coverage might not be the best insurance in case of an accident?

Most rental coverage from CC is secondary, means they only cover whatever is not covered from your insurance company.

Re: Cards offering rental car insurance?

There are several credit cards that offer primary coverage without additional cost but most of the cards have an annual fee.  The Discover Escape offers coverage up to ( I believe) $50,000 and has an annual fee of $65.  The JP Morgan Select also offers primary coverage as do the Chase Ritz-Carlton and United Club cards.  There are probably offerings from Citi and other banks, but I'm not familiar with them. Amex has excellent coverage but it costs about $20 per rental period.
