Cashback without carrying 20 cards.

I'm reducing the number of credit cards I have without losing cashback benefits.

Office supplies: 5% amex simplycash
Wireless: 5% amex simplycash
Internet: 27% bofa bbr
Grocery: 6% amex bcp
Gas: 5% Sam's MC
Travel: 3% Sam's MC
Restaurant: 3% Sam's MC
Misc: 2% Citi DC
Keep freedom and it for cat bonus.
Total af is $75.

So, that's 7 cards that should cover most categories. Bbr is on auto pilot and can be left home. Max, I would be carrying is 5 cards.

Any other improvements you guys can think of?

Sounds like you have a good plan!

I actually use a 'condensed' version of your list myself, including the BCP, Sam's Club MC, Discover, and for the stuff that's leftover I pull out a Quicksilver.

I personally can't think of any way to improve on what you've listed.  Smiley Very Happy

Re: Cashback without carrying 20 cards.

Ok, then it's time to drop some cards.
First round:
Drop home depot, walmart, csp, amex gold, arrival, arrival+, aviator, Sallie Mae, and rewards MasterCard.

Any chance that Barclays will convert one of its cards to the Sallie Mae?

if it does then keep the two Sallie Mae and ditch the AMEX BCP. I'm guessing you'll still get the AMEX offers on your simplycash.

Sallie Mae is not more. Besides, I'm closing business with Barclay.

You are missing the mention that BCP covers 3% at many department stores.

Having said that, the Cash+ can select each quarter from two of these categories for 5% each:

Department Stores, Sporting Goods stores, Furniture Stores, Electronics Stores, Wireless/Telephone, Movie Theaters, Car Rental,

and the sleeper: Bookstores which can be interpreted as Amazon.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812
Jan 2019 $7.6k on $360k EQ 832 TU 839 EX 831
March 2021 $33k on $312k EQ 796 TU 798 EX 801
May 2021 Paid all Installments and Mortgages, one new Mortgage EQ 761 TY 774 EX 777

Bit of hassle, but I can use gift cards sold at office supply to supplement most of cash+ 5% categories.
