Or a walmart popped up between your house and whole foods. I have read many many many times where people were told that the got a CLD because of where they shopped, and they have always shopped there, not a sudden switch.
Yes, I really don't want to defend Amex. I just pointed out that there were several people on this board who claimed they can buy at Walmart without suffering from adverse action. I don't remember for sure, but usually these were people with much higher income than mine .

lots of people getting axed for shopping at walmart. I can understand this profiling to an extent, like for instance, a customer is taking out a big cash advance in vegas. That makes sence that this person could be high risk. But walmart???? come on...
Suppose a person used his credit card for years at elate restraints and prestigious high price shopping malls.
What if he then repeatedly ran up large balances in Vegas?
Afterwards if his utility kept going up, and all subsequent charges were made exclusively at McDonald and WalMart, then would you CLD him or close his account?
I personally will only use my Sam's Club card at WalMart.
I would never redeem stuff at a pawnshop with a credit card.
It is probably not a good idea to pay the rollover interest at a payday advance joint with a credit card.
It is probably a good idea also to pay cash at horse tracks and for purchasing cheap booze.
Expensive liquor at high class joints might be alright.
OP - Adam and Eve advertises their own CC provided by CNWB (whoever they are). Not sure if they have a "rewards" program. Can't think that would look bad on a CR, shows you as a well-rounded consumer.......LOL.......
BTW- Google is my friend, I do not personally (cough) have knowledge of A&E or the items they sell.

That's what they all say .
But honestly, I don't think that buying "adult products" puts you into a risky tier. I can't see how this is any indication of financial trouble.

AMEX has been doing this for quite some time.. lots of people getting axed for shopping at walmart. I can understand this profiling to an extent, like for instance, a customer is taking out a big cash advance in vegas. That makes sence that this person could be high risk. But walmart???? come on...
I rarely shop at Walmart, but a couple years ago I bought about 600 dollars worth of electronics there and whichever company (don't recall whether it was AMEX, CITI, or CHASE) called my home number to verify the transaction. Nothing about adverse action or anything, it was simply an out-of-pattern transaction triggering a potential fraud alert. I said, yes I did buy those items, and that was that. This was a relatively large transaction; smaller Walmart purchases have never triggered such a call. At home I rarely go to Walmart, but in the Colorado mountains over Christmas we all shop there because it's a resort community with a zillion boutiques and ski shops but few places to get the basics so for some things Walmart is the only game in town. In a typical year I set foot in Walmart maybe four times and three of those four are in late December.
Until very recently I had never had any credit card company take any adverse action against me, so as I have noted in other postings I was more than a little irritated when Amex raised my APR in December. That APR has no practical effect on me since the only interest my wife and currently pay is the mortgage, but since my profile has not changed recently I basically interpret this APR increase as indicating AMEX must be clamping down on just about everybody.
contractor--
U are cracking me up..
Well, we have to keep our sense of humor. Credit issues are indeed serious business but we can't let them get us down. That's why I propose wearing a full face clown mask the next time you visit your bank.
Umm...on second thought, maybe that isn't such a great idea.
Try a smile, that'll mess with their head.
I buy all my pet food at walmart because it's such a rip-off at the big supermarkets. I can't believe it could affect your business.
Maybe they don't pay as much merchant's fee.
