Chances for BCP / BCE?

Hey Everyone,

I mentioned this in passing a while ago and wanted to get some feedback if I may be eligible for the BCP or BCE.  Here are my stats:

Experian: 700

Equifax: 684

TransU: 685

Age: 28

AAoA: 3.7 years

Income: $51k +

Accounts: 6 active, 4 closed.

Baddies: 1 late payment back in 2008 with BoA - perfect since on all accounts

Current Accounts:

    1. AMEX Gold (AU account)
    2. Chase Explorer - $300 / $2000 06/2013
    3. Chase Amazon - $100 / $1300 05/2013
    4. GE AMZ Storecard - $250 / $10,000 - 05/2013
    5. Auto Loan Chase - On time, never late, opened in May 2013
    6. BoA Amex Cash Rewards - $450 / $5,000 - 01/2008

INQs - 11 total

I was planning on gardening until December when the newest accounts would have aged to 6 months.  I am seeing all the awesome reporting on here and getting the itch.  I have always wanted the BCE/BCP card and to have my own AMEX account.  Should I continue gardening and be patient?

I think you will be good to go come December. I would definitely wait until then though.

Re: Chances for BCP / BCE?

thanks for the response.  it seems like allowing the age to hit post 6 months on new accounts would have a drastic difference.  That's when the accounts will reflect in a more positive way on my credit, assuming everything is paid and managed well?

Re: Chances for BCP / BCE?

Have you gone to creditcards.com and seen if you get an Exclusive offer or whatever the wording is for the Amex Blue?  That is how my partner got his and the bonus cash is higher.... Don't apply for BCE... take BCP.

If you get an offer through them, Id say go for it now.

I'd have to agree. On a good note they give limits as low as 2k and you have a couple much higher then that. If you get a low limit its ok because you know how fast they could grow with AMEX and responsibiity. AMEX likes to see PIF every month in my experience, on my 61 day they denied me because I had a balance and I've always PIF. When I hit 6 months I requested with a 0 balance, and got the 3x CLI. If you get denied try again in 90 days I believe it is with AMEX.

I think you have a decent shot at it now. But if you wait until Decemeber and pay off all of your cards except 1 and let it post a 10% util you will be almost sure to get either card.

Def use creditcards link. That offer has been up forever so I doubt its going anywhere.

Re: Chances for BCP / BCE?

Wow awesome feedback.  I'll try the creditcards.com route and see if I get an offer, but if i can be patient and force myself to keep gardening until december - I probably will have a much better chance.

I will update what happens at creditcards.com!

Re: Chances for BCP / BCE?

Ok - went to creditcards.com and tried finding matched cards.  Currently, no matches for AMEX yet.  I have a bunch of CAP ONE matches.  I should probably hold off until December to pay down some balances and run a 5% UTL.  BOA is currently considering a GW removal of the 2008 baddie I have.

Patience in the garden...time to keep on watering.
