I have the same problem with Patelco. When I applied they gave me the card with a $5000 max limit and no rewards. I tried to at least get it converted into a rewards card but was told that the new card would open with a fresh history so I sent my card to the sock drawer for a looooong vacation.
It's not the same problem. Your situation is a total problem. On the other hand every PC at BofA results in the account number being changed and new plastic being issued. The account history is transferred to the new account number and the old number is removed from your reports. This process has no effect on your credit standing or scores.
no. they did not change my card only upgraded it. I only found out because I called back door number for cli.

Maybe because it was an upgrade. I didn't need new card??????
All BofA product changes require a change of account number and new plastic. The history is carried over to the new account number and the old number is deleted from your CBR's. It is not a problem - it is just a practice. It is the way things are done.

Will that affect my credit score by any chance??
Please help!

I recently did a PC with BOA. There was no additional inquiry and no new tradeline. They simply changed the account number and issued a new card. The new card kept the same history from the old card.
Yes, that is exactly the way BofA does it - like clockwork science - after the next billing cycle closes following your request for a PC.

There was some confusion after I did the PC. BOA sent me two cards with different numbers on them. I chose the one that was listed on my credit reports and online account. I never called about the other card. I ruled it an error on their part for sending it.
