Charged $400 on my just open Chase freedom. When should I PIF. The bill isnt due unitl 09/08 but i want to pay it now. Should i wait to pay? I tried to pay it but it shows a 0 balance I owe. When can I pay it so it effects my credit score in a good way. thanks
With CHASE you can pay serveral times a month if you want. But ideally just before your statement generates. Which should be a day or 2 oafter the due date of course if you PIF before the due date and have no chharge from due date to statement date you wont have to worry either
Your amount due will update in a day or two. At that time, you can PIF. If you want your score to be unaffected, PIF 1-2 days before your close date (in other words, the before the day your statement is issued), NOT due date. Chase reports your balance at midnight on the day your statement is issued.
If you're not worried about your score right now, as John said just make the payment by your due date to avoid interest. At that point, your score will jump back up.
