Chase 5/24 clarification

How do I determine when an account is no longer being counted towards 5/24? For example, if the account was opened on 1-6-15 does it drop off on 1-6-17? Or do I need to wait until Feb?

I would wait until the next month to be safe.

As far as I know, they go by the month, so you'd want to wait until February. Your credit report (at least none that I've seen) doesn't have the exact date an account was opened, only the month, so it would be impossible for them to know what day to go by.

Just a tip too, try checking for pre approvals in branch. The 100k point CSR promo ends soon.

Yea, the promo apparently is going to last longer in the branch though till like march. I figure I will go by the bank and just see if there are any preapprovals. If its preapproved I will app. If it is not then I will wait until Feb and go back and check for preapprovals again if none at that point I will take the inq because its worth a shot. If I can't get it then I will see if they will let me use the same pull for the ritz card.

When I check credit karma it tells me the dates the individual credit cards were opened. That info is being pulled from the credit reporting agencies as far as I know?

Re: Chase 5/24 clarification

EX is the only CRA that does not report an exact account opening date, only month. EQ/TU both have the date down. Source: PDFs of CRs from agencies. That's why it looks like CK has all the dates b/c they use EQ/TU

Thank you for the datapoint. I went into the branch today and had no offers, so I was considering just waiting until Feb 1st and then applying if there is a pre-approval or not. I have seen a number of postings from people that their chase business cards did not rule them out for 5/24, so I think its worth taking the risk of an inq. I wonder if I get denied on the reserved if I can app for the ritz with the same pull?

I'd try to if CSR fails.
