Re: Chase And Their New Account Service Charges

Yeah, if my Chase accounts becomes subject to the changes mentioned in this thread, I think I may be forced to transfer my balance someplace else (and suck up the fee), and close my Chase accounts.  This would be a major blow to me, because I have $48K of available credit with them, which is slighly less than half of my total available credit (2 cards have $20K limits, and one has $8K)!

Re: Chase And Their New Account Service Charges

The only balance I owe to Chase is a 0% balance transfer that expires in August, but if they are going to charge me a monthly service charge, then I will have no choice but to close the account. I refuse to pay them even more money for their card.

NEW INFO

At the first customer service level they say the only way to opt out is to go to a 7.99% rate.

They say ALL life of loan balances are affected.

Please post info on your experiences.

The insert is NOT posted online - small piece of paper in your statement.

How do you spell coercion? I smell either a big fat class action coming (bad for the effected cardholders - you won't get much compensation) -or- some form of government action (unless they already have this locked out). They have to do something about this one!

On a positive note, paying 5% each month means that I'll pay off the balance faster, saving even more in interest!

Re: Chase And Their New Account Service Charges

This really has me scared.... I hope either this won't affect me, or I can make the $540 ($300 greater) in January...

I don't get paper statements  Smiley Sad

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Chase And Their New Account Service Charges

Dont be fooled. Paying off 5% is BAD for those making more money in interest than they are paying!!!

This is part of what Chase is doing, they argeed to a bad deal and they want to weasel out of it

Re: Chase And Their New Account Service Charges

For those without paper statements and have life of loan balances - please keep us informed - I believe it's illegal not to provide the opt out and certainly illegal not to have this info online.
