Chase CC and Online Gambling

Just wondering if Chase is going to shut off my credit card.  I went to get a haircut the yesterday and my Freedom was declined.  I have made some deposits to an online sportsbook and they recently quit accepting my Freedom card.  Like a moron I just kept trying to deposit, maybe ten times over three days.  I called the 800 number on the back of my card and was told that the rep couldn't do anything for me I would have to wait for a call from a "Senior Support Advisor"  Well I haven't got the call and I forwarded my home to my cell and still no call.

a) Is Chase going to cancel my card?

b) What should I do when they call?

I don't ever intend to use my CC to deposit in my online sportsbook ever again.

Have you logged into your Chase online account?  Were you behind in payments or were you close to the limit?

Have you checked your credit reports?  Any negs that may have spooked Chase pop up lately?

I can't comment too much regarding online gambling with a CC since I've never done it.  That itself may have raised concern; there's a reason you can't typically buy loto tickets with a card.

If I were you I'd wait for the call and avoid using phrases like "online gambling" and "sportsbook".

I agree, but if they have a concern, they probably know very well what was going on!

While waiting, check the Terms&Conditions.   It's very possible that online gambling is not allowed, or more generically this might be seen as a disguised cash advance.   But nothing you can do but plead ignorance and promise no repeats.

@longtimelurker

They have an idea what is going on but they don't know for sure. In order to circumvent the UIGA the charge will be made to some third party, not the gaming company.

To the OP: it sounds like you are dealing with a small amount of money 100's not thousands of dollars, that's good and will make things easy. I don't want to run afoul of any terms of service of myfico, so I'll just say when it comes time to deal with Chase be clear the charges are not fraudulent, they were initiated by you online and be vague about the details.

The charges have been made to a third party company.
