Chase CLI Increase Recon

Smiley Very Happy I'm so happy I could die.

Anyways, I originally started with Chase in 2010 after having a Discover card for 6 months. Both my Discover and Chase card were student cards and had an initial limit of $500.

Fast forward to today, my Discover card has grown to a $1,500 limit and my chase still $500. I hadn't applied for new credit in such a long time, I decided to bite the bullet and ask Chase for a CLI of at least $1,000 to match the $1.5k of Discover. Declined.

I had previously asked for a CLI from chase earlier and was declined both in the initial and recon because I was still too new (this was when I had them for a year).

I decided to wait for the letter to see what it would say. It say "too many new accounts recently opened." Now, my newest account on my credit report is a best buy card which is over a year old now, and after that it's my American Express card which is 2 years old - so I didn't understand why I even got declined.

Now, I was caring a balance on 2 of my 4 cards (64% util) and my credit score isn't fantastic (borderline 690+) because I maxed out my cards a few months ago. But that wasn't the reason I was declined. I decided to call the BD number to recon and I talked to a very nice lady who asked why I wanted to get a cli. I told her I wanted the card to be matched to my highest limit at least, and the $500 credit line is really limiting in terms of wanting to use the card and really discourages me and I don't use it at all.

She put me on a brief hold and voila, I got approved for a increase OF $1,500 making my CL $2000! O: My highest so far.

I'm extremely happy that I was finally able to get some growth with this card after having it for almost 3 years. I've paid off 3 of my credit cards this month, only carrying a balance on one, and now this increase will help even more with my util %!

Smiley Very Happy Yay
