Just got a Chase Freedom...$1500 CL...what is the best strategy to grow it to a signature? How much time will it take? i know its a very broad question...just need some insight
You can request a CLI at any time, but it's a HP. Given that, it's probably best to wait 6 months unless there is a notable improvement in your scores.
As far as VS goes, your card has to be open > 12 months before it can be considered for upgrade.
I just requested to upgrade mine to a signature a few weeks ago. At first they said I couldn't because it needed a minumum $5,000 CL and that I would have to request a CLI. I did that and they increased the CL to $5,000. I asked if it was also upgraded to a signature and they told me they couldn't because I haven't had it for a year. I will try again at the end of June when it turns 1 year old.
I'll be interested to know the answer to this one cos I got the Freedom too earlier this month with a hard limit of $500 and lowest APR of 14.99% after 0% for 15months (very weird). I've been recon'ing the limit like crazy and no one seems shaken, not even their EO. I already called their Backdoor again a couple mins ago and all she told me was that they need to see how well I manage the account in 6-12months before they can consider a line increase. Oh well at this point I give up trying, I'll go cash in my $135 I already accumulated and S'D it! It's very inconvenient cos I've had to pay 3 times already in a month not minding the drive to the bank to make payments since ACH payments aren't available immediately as opposed to cash payments. Oh well.....
How should I use this card, i.e untilization...charge up to CL amd pay...what is best to create a history they will see as favorable?
I used 50 to 75% of my CL every month and paid in full. Started with 2k, called in and got 5k at 6 months.
