Re: Chase CSP hopefully next year?

I just applied and got declined for CSP yesterday. You can read the thread I started on it. I have a BK 7 on my report that is 9 yrs and 4 months old. Never did business with Chase before so they weren't included in my BK. the issue was the BK and that I don't have any cards with a $5000 limit. I just reapplied for the Freedom but was declined for the same reasons but did a recon and the rep recommended approval but it has to go to another department for final review and I will get a final answer on Monday.

I'm not sure given you burned them in BK. Maybe someone else will come along that has accomplished what you are trying to do and give you advice. You do meet the $5000 prerequisite for the card though so it is possible I think. Smiley Happy

Re: Chase CSP hopefully next year?

After you apply and if you get declined they will give you the number to the loan department and they can immediately recon for you. At that time they will ask you to explain why it happened. Is the $3000 from Chase that you included in Bankruptcy showing up on your credit report anywhere?

Re: Chase CSP hopefully next year?

The Freedom is a little easier to get approved for so you can start there and convert after they see your worthiness. Just another suggestion. That is the road I plan to take if I get final approval on Monday.

I don't know how forgiving Chase is. American Honda finance was very forgiving because 10 years ago I filed a 7 on the auto loan they gave me, reaffirmed the debt but then ended up surrendering the vehicle. Just last month Acura approved me for tier 1 lease financing and I had received a letter in the mail saying, "welcome back to our family". So they remembered what happened, forgave me, and gave me a 2nd chance. Good luck! I think it is possible. How long have you been managing your credit lines?

Re: Chase CSP hopefully next year?

I been denied for the CSP 4 times. Reason: new accounts, not enough experience with 5k+. They wanna see a year history on any of my 5k+ cards

That's an important observation - do you think it's a strict requirement to get CSP?

I have $5k with ~3mths history and I really want to apply for CSP, so I was just wondering if it is a no-go from the very beginning...

I think someone posted recently about being approved for CSP without any 5k+ tradelines at all...

In my wallet now: Amex PRG NPSL, Amex BCE $15k $17k (thanks to recent CLI), Chase Freedom 11k, CSP $6k, Chase United ME $5k, Citi Dividend $5.6k, Discover It $4.5k and a handful of other cards...
TU Dec 2013 - 752Sep 2013 - 764 - new all time maximum

Obsolete data aboveCurrent TU - probably around ~810, only using a few Chase & BofA cards now, not applying for much until we buy a house

Would you mind sharing other details of your profile at that point? Specifically, did you already have your Freedom card at that point and if so, for how long?

What was your score?

I am just trying to figure if it is worth HP for me :-)
