Chase CSR: We're not lowering ANY rates right now

Called to get the APR on my Freedom adjusted. The CSR said "the bank is currently not negotiating any APRs except accounts that were increased in the last 2 years," and even those accounts are only eligible every 6 months. Bummer.

You could always call back and speak with a different CSR; you might get a different answer....

Yeah I will in a few days, but it sounds like a new, firm policy.

Re: Chase CSR: We're not lowering ANY rates right now

Chase jacked my Freedom rate up from 12.24% to 24.24% about 2 weeks before the CARD Act went into effect for no reason whatsoever.

I've called every single month since to try to get it lowered and they refuse, giving me the same line they gave you, despite the fact that every other month I get pre-approved offers from them for a new Freedom account with an APR around 13-15%.

I hate Chase and will never apply for a new Chase anything.

Re: Chase CSR: We're not lowering ANY rates right now

Sounds about right to me, Chase has to fund those insane sign-up bonuses some way...

Sadly, this practice has turned me off of Chase a bit.  No reason why an account in good standing should ever sit at 22.9% or even higher!

Freedom can get pretty expensive if someone carries a balance after any introductory APR is over. Smiley Happy

Re: Chase CSR: We're not lowering ANY rates right now

Pageonce sent me one of their helpful tips today:

You are paying a much higher APR than the Pageonce average of 16.88%

Details:

Issuer:     JPMorgan Chase Bank
Account:     CREDIT CARD
APR:     22.24%

Their brilliant recommendation as a replacement is:

CapOne Classic Platinum for Average Credit
