Hello All!
I decided to apply for a rewards card so that I could maximize the usage of my credit cards. On thursday i applied for three places, Barclay, Credit Union, and Chase Freedom card(which is where I work as well). My credit union denied me off the bat due to a BK. Barclays approved me for 2 grand instantly, still waiting on my decision from Chase, so I wanted to get opinions on the probability of my approval. Heres my background:
Bk discharged 1/2014
deferred student loans of 100,000
merrick bank 1550 (2010)
Capital 1/Orchard Bank 400(2010)
Capital 1 700 (2011)
Walmart 300 (2012)
Barclays 2000 (2014)
i have about 13 inquiries from 2012 that will fall off this year. 2 paid judgements from 2011 and no late payments since my Bk. I wanted to get my cards earlier this year and apply for housing later to use the cash back to help pay off other debt and make the cards work for me. Thanks for any help!!!

I don't think Chase will approve since the BK is so new, however they have surprised many a folks before. But since you have the Barclays card that's a good one that will grow with you.
So I called and they told me I was declined due to BK and I explained that a previous banker told me he seen people get approved for it with a BK. So she asked me a few questions and said that she is going to resend it and recommend me for an $500 approval. I should know within 5-7 days, wish me luck!!!

Fingers crossed for you! If you get it this would be a good foot in the door with them even with a $500 CL.
Wow I recon'd 3 times and couldnt get Chase to give me a single dime. My BK is over 3 years old...congrats on your approval but I'd be lying if I said this didnt piss me off a bit.
Well I also work for the bank, so that probably helped. Sorry man!

That is because Chase is bipolar. Ex. I applied for the CSP last year denied even after recon. Applied this past Thursday approved for 19.4k then Monday applied for Freedom approved 19k. Meanwhile a year they wouldn't even approve me for 5k for the CSP minimum but give me close to 40k now without recon both instant.

Yeah I gave up on Chase, seeing someone get approved 2 months out of BK, and I cant after almost 4 years? Thats just bad business to me, I also bank there and at the time had almost 10k in a savings account with them (all with their .01% interest). I know decisions are based on credit profiles but to tell me not enough time has passed then approve someone with 2-3 months passed? I can do without Chase, and would rather give my business to someone willing to form a mutual relationship.
Congrats $500 is enough to show them that you deserve way more.
