The lady who opened my Chase business checking and savings yesterday said i was pre-approved for Chase INK. I didnt take it but i mentioned that I wanted a CLI on my new Chase Freedom since its only $500.
She said she was going to try to get it raised without a hard inquiry....is this even possible? Has anyone heard of this?
For what its worth, she was going to call someone but it was after hours...so prob hear back monday?
I just did some research on this a few hours ago and it seems for Chase Freedrom, CLI requests are hard inqs.

Exactly...but she seemed to think she could possibly get it done without a hard inquiry...
Was she just clueless or is it possible?
A few days ago, a friend of mine called Macy's to try to get an account re-instated that he closed less than a week ago. They told him it would be a soft inquiry, but they ended up doing a hard inquiry. So I personally don't believe the reps on the phone. I'm sure they're not purposely trying to deceive you, they may just be mistaken.
It seems like it should be possible, but I hope you are prepared for a hard pull.
Its definitley possible. Other companies do it all the time. Is it likely? No.

Absolutely not. I told her and had her repeat to me many times only if its a soft inquiry. We talked about myfico.com etc so she seemed like she had half a clue...but i just dont know since everyone says u have to have a hard pull for Chase.
Hard pull is standard, but it does sound like you might get away with a soft. But, I still wouldn't be surprised....

In any case, chance of Chase doing a soft pull is pretty slim.
