Chase Freedom Card .... Process

So I applied for the Chase Freedom card like a week and a hlaf ago, and still has not shown up on my online banking so i decided to call they said that my app got stalled and that i needed to fax over a copy of my social security card has this happened to anyone elsE?  and why do they need a copy of my social ?

Probably to verify your identity.  A lot of times on an app a lender will require some additional identity verification.
