Is there any benefit to having more than 1 of these cards with 5% rotating categories? Do the categories overlap a lot?
I've heard Shop Discover is really good, but non-category spending is only 0.25% on the first $3000 right? I think the base rate for Freedom + Dividend is 1%.
I have all 3 and the categories do somewhat overlap but I switch which cards I use. Take a look at this:
I only use the Discover for the 5% categories and the 2% utilities offer they have for the entire year. I will not use it for anything else because of the .25% (well that, and their CL). The other day I took it out to use for the 5% off at the movies and the theater didn't accept Discover.

Thanks for uploading that chart! What is the 2% offer on utilities? Unfortunately where I am all the utilities charge extra for CC payments
Well it includes phone (cell or not)/cable/internet.
Oh wow very nice!
Forgot about the double cash back on utilities, signed up! Big thanks!
OP: The shopdiscover and ultimate rewards at Chase are good enough reasons alone to have those cards. 10% is really common through those options.
