I opened my Chase Freedom 9/2012 with a $2000 limit. In 10/2012 I took a HP and increased it to $4000. In 12/2012 I took another HP and increased it to $10,000, where it currently sits.

Was it an instant approval when you requested the 2nd and 3rd time or did you have to recon. I am thinking about taking a HP in the next 2 months.

The 2nd one I reconned because the account was really new. The 3rd was instant. On the 3rd, after I was approved for the $6,000 increase to $10,000, I felt like I probably could have gotten more!

All that in 4 months? Holy cow. How much do you run through the card each month?
It depends on the 5% categories, but since I've gotten the card, I've put a few thousand on average through it a month. I never carry a balance, though.....

Thanks so much! I cannot wait to get my first 5 digit limit~ question is will it be NFCU auto cli or Chase initiated cli that gets me there
1. # of months account was open when CLI was obtained (specify auto or HP)
6 months, I pay 95% of balance 1 or 2 times per month - Hard Pull
2. Starting CL
$500
3. Average monthly spending
$500-$800
4. $$ amount of CLI
increase of $2000 to $2500
I sent a secured message first requesting a CLI to $2500, within an hour I received a response saying that it was denied - letter is in the mail. I then called the Customer Service Number in the message and I was asked questions about my report and why I wanted an increase. I explained that a $500 limit is useless for my needs. After a few minutes on hold the rep confirmed the CLI from $500 to $2500. A 5x increase is definitely worth the inquiry, Thanks Chase!
@DocM wrote:@I have noticed there have been a plethora of threads regarding the Chase Freedom and CLIs. Although to my knowledge there isn't a formula to the whole thing (in comparison to the AMEX 3x CLI @ the 61 day mark), I have noticed some similarities reported among members who have received them - several of the auto CLIs have been within 6 months of account opening; usually are in the amount of $500, and given those with lower starting limits. I know that many say it is more worthwhile to just open a new card and transfer limits between cards accordingly, but for those who have received CLIs and are willing to share some info, perhaps it can help future members decide whether or not to ask for a HP CLI.
I felt the following would provide some good resource:
1. # of months account was open when CLI was obtained (specify auto or HP)
2. Starting CL
3. Average monthly spending
4. $$ amount of CLI
There is probably a ton of other factors, and if I missed any critical factors let me know. If there is enough data maybe it can be charted somehow.
For me,
1. # of months account was open when CLI was obtained (specify auto or HP) - Opened 9/11; have not received a CLI
2. Starting CL - 4,000
3. Average monthly spending - 1,250
4. $$ amount of CLI - N/A
9 - Opened 7/2012
$2,000
Eh, around 400-800. Will use for 5% categories.
$300 - Received auto luv 6 months from acct. opening.
