Re: Chase Freedom Success RECON

Thank you Jlu for sharing; been sorta on the fence on my future credit applications but I keep seeing reinforcement from stories like yours that I should still keep Chase and particularly the Freedom in my list for smart applications.

Re: Chase Freedom Success RECON

Update: Got the Freedom via UPS overnight mail today, which by the way was free although I did have to specifically request it be expedited. They used Transunion (I live in MA) and reported a pull of 631. My goal is to work my way up to the JP Morgan Select card, which is in my opinion the classiest looking card you can get without the requirements of the Centurion or Palladium. It is a Visa Signature so like the CSP you'll need to be able to demonstrate the ability to handle 5 figure limits.

When should I request or expect my first CLI? Assuming I PIF each month.

That 631 had to have been a score from Chase's internal system, I would sit back and not poke the bear any and just pay ontime for a year, then ask for a CLI.

LS - I am staring at it right now. It says:

Your credit score: 631
Scoring system name: FICO® Score
Date calculated: 08/09/2012

So I must just be lucky to have gotten a $2000 limit. I suppose you are right about not rocking this boat that is now a yacht Smiley Happy

Re: Chase Freedom Success RECON

Congrats on the successful recon. I got my Freedom card back in march. Awesome card. I got a 2K limit increase 5 months after opening given I also had to recon for it. Smiley Wink

Being a chase checking & savings customer helps. Just my two cents though.

Wow, Chase is really untightening their belt on approvals. 631 id awfully low for a prime card approval. Did you get the 0% APR for 15 month / $100 cash back deal?

Re: Chase Freedom Success RECON

Congrats. Had applied for Freedom on 08/12/2012 (Sunday) got 7-10 day msg, called  800-432-3117 and spoke to a CSR and later got connected to a Funder ( Credit Analyst), she analysed my credit report and denied. Reason she said was too many inquiries and too many new accounts (Discover, Walmart & Auto Loan), they made TU pull, I guess score might be high 600s. Disappointed! But after reading your post, got some courage and tried 888-270-2127(the number which you called) just before 30 mins and got directly connected to a lady; she informed me that I was denied and someone made this decision on Sunday itself. But I requested her to reconsider, she put me on hold and came back to deny once again. And this time around, the reason told was that I have limited credit history (I have history for more than a year and they need 2 yrs of history), though I tried to convince her by saying that I have good payment history, having checking account with them for more than 2 yrs, got recent salary increment, ready to share my paystub & I am eager to have a prime card..blah blah!!  nope nope..she is not interested. Thanked and hang up.

Futile effort from me :-(

FYI this is my 3rd credit app for Freedom..I am trying this card since 2010. I have a decent score, mid-to-high 600 and decent income 78K.

I have Toyota Financial Auto Loan ~ 17K(0.9% APR)  DCU Visa - 5K, Genisys CU Visa - 2K Discover More - 1K Cap One - 750 Cap One Cash rewards - 500 Walmart - 500 Macys - 200 Kohls - 300

Each time Freedom & Amex eludes..have to figure out. I have planned to be in the garden for a year, then re-app for Freedom & Amex.

Re: Chase Freedom Success RECON

I missed a point in my previous post. Even I have 18 inqs in TU for the past 2 yrs. 6 in recent days. CU made 1 for CLI, 1 Auto Dealer Pull, 1 Walmart Pull, 1 Discover Pull, 1 Amex Pull, 1 Chase Freedom Pull. TU is bleeding with 18 inqs!. I might had luck if it was pulled from EX(3 in recent days) or EQ(2 in recent days) - relatively less inqs there.

Thanks,

Syed
