@YahComb wrote:i was approved for sapphire and freedom 9-10 days ago, apps minutes apart. had the same EQ 695 i have now, 2 accounts at 12 months, 2 at 6 months, 2 within last 4.
It's possible my sapphire was approved based on Experian score (by far my cleanest report, 3 total inq since feb vs 7 on EQ, none since april on either report) since chase pulled EQ and EX for me and the freedom was approved based on Equifax. But ill never know since sapphire only has one APR, and thus they don't have to send a score telling you why you didn't get better terms. Utizilation was at 61/8600 (rounds to 1%).
@I was denied for Freedom @ 7 months history back in march with EQ FICO 690ish and under 10% utilization.
Sapphire is not super-prime but, it seems theyre probably at least as dfficult as the Freedom used to be. You'd be much safer bet closer to 700s.
just out of curiosity, and for my own edification, I was wondering if you could define "super-prime" for me?
Thanks,

Super-prime is a term used for FICOs at 740-750 or above. There are always some exceptions to this, but it should hold true in most cases.
Another large consideration for this card (and others probably) is income.
When I was approved for the CSP my EX score was 687 and I had some baddies including late pays within the past 24 months. However, I make about $150,000 / year, and I think that not only got me an approval but a CL of $22,500.00 with my first card ever with Chase.
When considering my situation in making your decision as to when to apply, also consider the following that may have had as large an effect as my income:
Only 1 inquiry in the prior 12 months on the report they pulled
0.00% utilization
CC (Discover: $3.9K CL / 18 year old; BOA Cash Rewards: 1K / 1 year old; Cap1: 1.75K / 1.5 years old )
If it is what you want don't be afraid to take a shot ... best of luck!

Yes, but besides maybe JP Morgan Chase Palladium and Amex Centurion, are there truly any "super-prime" credit cards left? They all seem to fluctuate with there lending/underwriting criteria now....
i really didn't have any specific number in mind. I was just trying to say it's not exactly only meant for those with well above average scores and lavish lifestyles (though when it was launched it was marketed as a card for the high spending urbanite types). But as we move futher away from the Crash of 08 and subsquent CARD ACT, lending standards are moving back towards pre-08 levels (unfortunately not with pre-08 APR's though). But yeah, there isn't much left that is out of realm of an average consumer with a relatively clean history(or at least recently clean) and average scores.

+1...Agreed!
Interested in hearing some othe thoughts on the two cards.
Just wanted to update.Went ahead and applied for both the Sapphire and the Freedom today. Both said apps needed to be reviewed. Called to recon expecting to have to explain why two apps but theya only asked me about the Sapphire. Got approved for 5k. Glad to be back in with Chase.

Congrats! Great card!!!
Time to open up that Chase Checking account, and get in on the 10/10 deal. I'm getting about 2000 points/months alone from that. I usually increase the # of purchases I do by buying small Amazon Gift cards. However, don't get greedy or else Chase will shut you down (vary the costs of the gift cards, and do several a day).
