Hey guys. So I was on here about a year an a half ago trying to get my first credit card. I was an AU on chase sapphire for a long time though (15 year history, perfect payment). I ended up having a citi gas card, 600 cl, that Ive had for that year an a half. Then got approved for a AMEX Gold card and and Affinity FCU Reward card (5,000 cl) about 7 months ago. Perfect payment history and have been putting most of my spending through the AMEX Gold.
I am getting married this summer, and figured with increased spending on Groceries, gas, dept stores, etc, The AMEX BCP would be good. Applied last week and was accepted. Called ahead before I got the card and they told me I got $ 20,000 CL. Which was a surprise.
Now I am looking to get the Chase Sapphire preferred card. The reasoning being my wife and I could use these 2 cards on all of our expenses. The other reason being we are going to Italy in October and I would like the Big bonus MIles the come along with the card.
What are my chances of getting this card if I app in a few months?
Thanks for any advice, as always.

The fact that you have CL's above the $5,000 mark definitely have improved your chances.
I'm just not sure how they would like to see that you have a few INQ's on your report.
You have the BCP, so, if you don't mind using up the HP, go for it.

May want to garden the new accounts for 6 months before apping.

I think your chances are fairly high..if Amex have not report yet, I would go ahead and app now. Besides,,,,Amex and Chase are head to head in competition
So good for consumers.

I'd let it report for atleast a few months before applying. Showing that you can handle a $20,000 will really help your case. As someone has stated previously, AMEX and Chase love to one-up eachother. or atleast match each other. They are really competing for each other's clients.

Banks will also factor in risk/income, etc...it's obvious your score, aaoa and income are fairly high if BCP CL is $20k. More than likely, Amex pulled EX and maybe TU if they need be. Chase on the other hand will pull EQ generally so I think he's pretty good for the approval with CSP. Keep in mind before your trip abroad, if you need that 40k signup bonus for flyer miles...you have to spend 3 months in advance to get it deposit into your account. With your high income...CSP will be ideal. Unless you have a bunch of IQs on your report last 6 months, you are pretty good to go imo! Would be even better if you call in to Chase and app over the phone. Tell them about your trip and you want that CSP to be your primary card.
