Re: Chase Sapphire Prefered - Declined

Thanks for the response! Wow! That's awesome! $5000 with recon and all the perks too! I don't think I will get that much yet. What types of cards are GECRB? Are they like the Walmart card?

Merry Christmas!

Please do not open any more credit cards until AFTER you close on your mortgage in March.  Lenders do not like to see that you are actively seeking credit in the 6-12 months prior to your mortgage, and this could impact your rates/approval.

After you close, feel free to try for a GE card if that's what you're after.  Amazon store card, Walmart, PayPal, etc.; GE is great about growing credit lines quickly, and you could get to $4-5000 within a year or so.

I would also hold off on any more applications until after the bankruptcy falls off in August.  After that, feel free to go on a major app spree for the cards you really want, as opposed to just apping to get a card with a > $5000 CL.  With your income and a clean credit report, you are poised to get prime approvals with good limits on your choice of cards.

Good luck. :smileyhappy:

I would suggest a credit union card, you should be just fine gaining a 5k+ limit.

+1 you shouldn't app for any new CCs within 6 mos of getting a mortgage. After you close, you can app without a problem.

I can understand your sense of urgency. I felt the same way. But I gardened and have done very well thanks to the advice I got here.

Good luck with your recon!

I'd app for a GE card, then call Credit Solutions for a $5k credit line...

Chase would be willing then!:-)
