I am now in the garden, but last week I applied for the Chase Sapphire and got the 7-10 day message. Today I get a denial letter with the following reasons:
Too many requests or credit accounts with us
Too many accounts with high balances compared to credit limits
Too many requests for new credit in the past 12 months.
Well, I did apply for the Freedom earlier this year and I have my mortgage with Chase, but I don’t think that is too many accounts. Is it?
Also, the high balance comes from accounts I was an AU on and was actually just removed. They should stop showing on my report soon, I hope. My personal utilization is at about 10%. I do have 7 inq this year, but that is because I was trying to get better cards. Should I try to recon? Or should I just wait and reapply after gardening for a while?
I've never called to recon, so it makes me a little nervous.
Be sure and explain the AU situation
Good luck
Just called.. Recon successful!!!
I explained I was an AU on a few accounts and that my personal balances are low. When the analyst put me on hold to look over my cr, my heart was racing. I was so nervous. She approved me for the Sapphire card with a $5000 CL!!
I am definitely in the garden for a while now. Thank you so much for encouraging me to call.
Always call to recon! You already "paid" for a HP! The spouse got hit with "too many accounts" that were all (MY primary) AU when she went for the quicksilver @ Cap1. Emailed the only real back door and explained. Bam, two days later the Visa Siggy on its way!
