Hi all,
Currently looking to get a motorcycle loan to help build my credit even further. My credit union offers motorcycle loans which are better than CC revolvers most dealerships offer to purchase bikes. I currently do have a car which is paid for but I did not take the loan under my name.
Current score is EX 689 and was curious to find out which would be best:
Applying for a Chase Slate/Sapphire Preferred or applying for the mootorcycle loan? Reason for Chase is because I currently have the Freedom card and wish to get another card to add to my arsenal and eliminate my Credit One and First Savings CC, in addition my not be a bad decision to ask for a CLI while I app for cards.
If I apply for the loan, I do not want Chase to deny me for the inquiry, yet I do not want my CU to deny the loan applicaiton (if approved).
Currently have to wait until Oct for Amex 3X CLI.
Feel this is a catch-22.
What would be the best idea? Currently have 2 inq from about a year ago on my report.
Thanks.
Motorcycle loan would probably be best. Unless you have a significant income (since credit score and limits are not great), I can't imagine a Slate approval covering more than the price of a scooter.
As far as paying for the motorcycle, definitely the loan.
As far as Chase vs CU looking at Inquiries, YMMV. For all you know the CU may pull TU and Chase pulls EX. and neither will see the others inquiry.
For a motorcycle, definitely the loan. Even if you got the CC, it would likely be maxed by the purchase of the bike, and if you didn't pay it off in the promo period you would need to BT it to another card.
Thanks. I really want to apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred (Call EO to see if qualify for Slate if I app and get denied) but know my score is potentially too low and also apply for the motorcycel loan. I am not trying to take on too much credit but rather building a better relationship with Chase (currently bank with them and have had my Freedom for a year) to eliminate my low end, no name cards (Credit One and First Savings).
I hope my CU doesn't it as me taking too much credit in the process or wonder or Chase refusing me after apping for a loan at my CU. Currently have checking at both locations (CU for 12 yrs, Chase for 3 yrs).
Thanks for everyone's reply.
