My girlfriend has a 733 score and just got the Discover More card with 6500 limit. Applied for Slate to BT and was approved for 400 dollars. Yes, 400 Dollars. we called the backdoor number and was given CLI of 100 dollars.

Anyone else have low CL with Chase Slate?

I apped for the Freedom and Slate on the same night a year ago (1 inq) with a TU Fico of about 762 and got 6500 and 7000 respectively. Its not offensive but an ego buster. All my other cards are >10K. If it is any consolation, I was approved for the JPM Select 7 months later for 7K but recently auto'd to $18,000.

No, it wasnt $400, but in comparison, it was low to my other lines.

Given time those limits will grow fast with Chase.They just want to see good history and consistantcy.

Does she have  a thin file?  Remember credit lines aren't determined by the score, but many other factors in the report, also income and fixed debt determine credit line.  Some banks might look at score more than other things, some not.  I've approved people with 800 scores for 2k, and 660's with 10k.

+1 Kippie.... they may feel as though she has enough existing credit provided by other creditors...esp. if that $6500 line recently started reporting.

I got the slate in 2007, my util was high and they also gave me a 3 digit CL. I have asked for increases a couple times since, but they always tell me it will be a HP, so I never went for it.
I have carried small balances, PIF, not used it for 6 months. The limit has never changed in 5 years. Oh well.

Chase is sensitive to new accounts. It could be a possibility that they saw the $6500 Discover card. I have heard of people that have no relationship existing with Chase get low limits on the Slate. The Sapphire Card is a what you should of applied for, which has a minimum CL of $5k and you need at least a 700 or close to it for approval.

Chase gave me FREEDOM 6.5K and a month later gave me Sapphire Prefered 7.5 K with a 652 EXP  but the score i got from chase was 739 vantage i guess i think they look at your other limits as well and income i have 3lines with 20K limts so i guess that helps

Chase is stingy with CLs and CLIs. I've been good to my Freedom even though they gave me a lousy CL. Still no CLI in 1.5yrs. Its ok though, I just use it now when the rotating categories are favorable.

I just applied and was approved for the Chase Slate card.

They pulled TransUnion and i've got a 660-670. Income of $55,000 per year. And no delinquency in over 5 years.

Instant approval and a $3,000 CL.
