Chase Slate and Pre-Approved Offer Question

So....I am on Chase's website and it says that I have an offer for a Slate card. My Discover free interest period is up, and so I'd like to transfer some/all of my balance to Slate, since they're 0% for 15 months (17.99 afterwards), with no balance transfer fees for 60 days. I already have the Chase Freedom and Chase Amazon products with them. Would it be better to take the online offer, or to call in? Also, I'd like to d/c the Amazon card (it has a low, unyielding limit of $1,500 after 1 year of use), and replace it with the Chase Sapphire (is there a MC version of it?),....but would it perhaps be wiser to call and do both apps simultaneously, or to hold off on messing with the Amazon/Sapphire switcharoo for a year or 2?
All 3 bureaus (per Amex CreditSecure FAKO) are still 748 (as of 12/19/13). Cards: Discover It, $12,100, Chase Freedom $3,300, Chase Amazon $1,500, Walmart store $11,000, AMEX Zync NPSL, Costco Amex $14,700. US. Bank Cash +, $5,000. AMEX SPG $6,000, PenFed Plat. Cash Rewards $17,500, PenFed P-LOC $10,000, Citi Forward $5,100, Chase Slate $5,000, Old Navy, $2,200.

Re: Chase Slate and Pre-Approved Offer Question

You can just apply for the slate if you decide to. Online app or phone app are the same. Both works.

The sapphire preferred can only be applied for in its visa variation. You can ask for it to be switched to MC after that though, but they sometimes ask u to wait.

Re: Chase Slate and Pre-Approved Offer Question

Calling or apping online for the Slate is up to you. If you are going for the Sapphire, they usually have a better sign up bonus in branch. Closing the Amazin and moving your CL to either cc can be done once you are approved with a secure message.

They had indicated they were no longer offering the MC version but some have been able to app for it but that is either on the phone or in the branch- no MC app online.

Re: Chase Slate and Pre-Approved Offer Question

The slate is great for carrying a balance and that is about it. I agree with the others though, if you are thinking Sapphire then you may want to app in a branch and possibly get a better bonus.

I actually regret getting my Slate. At the time, I was in the midset that I will get it in case I want to carry a balance. I should have waited until I actually needed it. Now it is just sitting there collecting dust.

Yes azguy13, it looks as though one misses the whole point of this card if one doesn't complete one's BT's within the first 60 days of use.

It was a mistake that I have learned from and that is why I share it. I do not want the same to happen to anyone else. This situation seems like it warrants the slate though Smiley Happy

Congrats on the excellent CL. Not only will you put the card to use, but that is the step you most likely needed to start growing you other CLs as well!

Re: Chase Slate and Pre-Approved Offer Question

Way to go!!! IMHO I would take their suggestion and imply that this credit line doesn't suit my needs and see if I could squeeze a few more pennies out of them...only if it doesn't result in another HP of course!!!
