Chase

I got a notice in the mail the other day from Chase. They're waiving my payments until March for my closed Freedom account, apparently due to Hurricane Sandy. They stress I should make payments if I'm able, but that I will not be penalized (no penalty fees) if I opt not to make a payment. I'm curious if anyone else has seen this from Chase. I'm also curious to see if they offer the same option for my other account. Haven't decided whether I'll exercise the option yet.

Re: Chase

That's nice of Chase to do. Just curious, why was your Chase Freedom account closed?

Re: Chase

Be careful to confirm that if you take advantage of this they will report paid as agreed.

Yeah I called, they said they did send a letter last week. It was nice of them to offer.

Hmm. The one I had was just straight Chase Freedom and it was actually a Mastercard, rather than Visa.

Re: Chase

I can confirm they have extended this type of option to consumers with their Chase accounts enrolled in DMP, but only offered to waive 2 payments, resuming in March not May. These letters clearly state they will still report as "paid as agreed", no fees to be applied.

What is DMP?

I did say resuming in March and that the letter states no fees would be applied. I also called Chase to confirm that the letter originated from them.

Re: Chase

Sorry! I somehow misread that Smiley Embarassed

DMP = Debt Managment Program (either through a CCCS agency or their in-house Repayment plans)
