Citi Aadvantage Amex PC--- Done!

I always read, and in February was told directly by Citi, that they will not PC the Citi Aadvantage Amex card into another product.

I already had a Citi Aadvantage MasterCard with a pretty decent CL ($15k) but the silly $2000 CL assigned to the AA Amex card made the card almost unusable for business trips, etc., and they'd never give me a CLI.

So I don't need the card anymore (having gotten a PR Gold Amex in Jan) and today called up CitiCards to cancel it.  They switched me to a "specialist" and she checked and was able to PC  me into a Hilton Honors Visa.  Yes, I know, I won't get the bonus points that I would have with a new app.  (Already recently got the Amex Hilton card Smiley Wink )

But I did get a no AF card, a lower API, a reward program I like and a chance to build this card into something with a decent CL over time.

45 day change time as usual.

But they have to issue a new account number. Since AMEX is using 15 digits account number with "3" as beginning and Visa is using 16 digits account number with "4" as beginning.

That probably will upset the account history.

Excellent point, yes, a new account number will be issued.  I will have to see what date is on the card, but you  are right, will probably not be a "true" PC if it affects reported account age.
