Citi CLI question- UPDATE

What is the best way to ask Citi for a CLI to get only a SP?

phone? online?

Will they counter offer or do you need to be conservative in what you ask for?

Re: Citi CLI question

I did mine online and it was a SP. They will counter if its too high and if you dont accept then it becomes a HP. I always request what I think makes sense, but request what you want. If they cant do it then accept the counter Smiley Happy

Re: Citi CLI question

Over the phone, they'll be able to tell you if its a SP or HP.

Online, you won't know until its too late IIRC.

Re: Citi CLI question- UPDATE

I ran $6000 though mr citi card in six months. Always PIF. I had a cl of $1500. At the sixth month mark I asked for a CLI. It was a HP & denied. No one at citi would help me out & I tried to recon with no success. Let's just say I was not happy.
I put a BT on the card & it's sat in my draw & that's where it will stay.

My score had not dropped. A few more inquiries but due to auto refinance. Couldn't understand it. Was gutted.

Re: Citi CLI question- UPDATE

Sometimes there is no logic...had a citi secured card opened in sept 2009 with a CL of 200.00

charged 14k on it over 18 months, when it unsecured I did not get an increse and it has been a year and a half  since unsecured and PIF and never late and never a single charge over 200 and still no increase...I will just keep the card open, use it PIF and wait...

No, I lied. I callled DISCOVER and they said no.  I'm not going to call Citi until after I hit 6 months, which will be on the 21st.  I can be a ditz sometimes.   LOL

Re: Citi CLI question- UPDATE

Discover isn't known for great CLIs. Hope you have better luck with Citi! Smiley Happy

Edits, funky spacing and spelling due to my iPad not getting along with the forum editor!

I got a CLI with discover from 2500 to 9100. But I use it heavily! went from not using a lot to using it a lot for months and they bumped it automaically 3 months after I got a 1500 cli requested because I was maxing it out and PIF.

Re: Citi CLI question- UPDATE

How often can you request a CLI from CITI? I requested one online about 4 months ago. The system countered with a slightly lower increase and I took it.
