Hello. I've been lurking the forums lately and finally decided to jump in and make a user name to join along.
I recently got a Citi Card Thank You Card preapproval..I decided to apply and got the message saying it would take a few days..A few days passed and I was approved for $3500 which surprised me. I wasn't sure what credit report agency they would make their inquiry from. I have had problems getting my Equifax report and my Experian was alright. I just got my Transunion which had a lot things I had to dispute and Citi wasn't on that one.
I know I wouldn't have gotten approved with Equifax but now I am curious as how I was able to get approved with the limit that I did get..One of the last times I got denied for a credit card, they pulled Experian.. I've been reading and searching that Macy's and Citi are somehow in the same boat? Is that true? I do have a Macy's Amex which was my sole card I use for everything and I would pay it often..
I'm still learning a lot and this board has definitely opened up my eyes.
Welcome!
Congrats on the approval.
Citi's pulls seem to be scattered. Some claim it's 100% EQ, while others claim it's a crapshoot between EQ and EX, with a side of TU for some folks. I applied for the Forward card today and they pulled EX for me.
FWIW, Macy's and Citi are completely different banks.
Congrats!
I've read that it can also depend on where you live. I live in Ohio and I've apped Citi 3 times, and they've only pulled EX.
I've applied with Citi 4 times and they've always pulled EX. Im in Cali. You should check out this site If you enter credit company and state it tells you what bureau they pull from: Mod Cut

So sorry! I did not realize this was not allowed. I'm new!
No problem. There are a few sites that allow any and all tactics for credit repair to be openly discussed no matter how questionable those tactics might be.
Applied for Citi 3 times. 1 back in 3/2011 and they pulled EQ. 2 on the same day on 7/2012 and they pulled EQ once for both apps.
My dad and one friend also apped for Citi. My dad twice(both EQ) and my buddy once(EQ as well). Btw, We all live in Florida.
Thank you all for the welcomes.. I kind of wished I had looked around at the other citi cards before I applied with this preapproval but I am definitely happy with it so far.
Congrats, very nice limit to start out with and Citi will grow with you, GL.
