I just looked at my recent purchases thru amazon, and the ARE listed as book store purchases. Btw, when I say recent, I mean from less than a week to a couple of days ago....
well so far its only those guys who have "confirmed" this. Signs point to a false alarm. Still dont know how they "confirmed" their info.

I hope it's not true as well, but it would still be the best dining card.

So is this where you read it? If so, this really sucks. That was one of the major reasons I got the card. Just apped for it this week, and it hasn't even shown up yet.
I don't really trust Nerd Wallet, its review has gone down the drain. AMEX treats Amazon as internet warehouse, not department store.
+1

I'm going to monitor to see if there has been a change, but I think this is NOT confirmed and false.
BTW -- I still see the student loan and mortgage rebate check at $0.01/point value, so Thank You points have not been devalued.
+1...I think it's false as well
@Crashem wrote:Did Nerd Wallet have their Citibank affiliate payment reduced? I hope this isn't the case. Nerd Wallet gave an extremely unflattering and basically schewed review of US Bank Cash+ as I assume US Bank not paying affiliate fees. However if this article is untrue, it takes it to new level. This isn't an opinion but an outright lie that they said they confirmed.
Giving a negative review is one thing, reviews are largely subjective. Making blatantly false statements is another. It would be extremely stupid for them to purposely do that... it would only serve to discredit themselves, and could even have litigious consequences. Surely there's got to be some truth behind this for them to post it with such specifics.
I sure hope this is false. I spend a lot of money on Amazon and the 5x points is one of the only reasons I have this card now. Thank You points really are devalued compared to MR or UR points, or cash back. I guess it's still a good restaurant card though.
@Open123 wrote:Darn, never realized the Forward gets 5x points on amazon. I had thought it was only for dining. Can't believe I missed out on this for 3 or 4 years.
Same here. I think I used my Citi Forward a lot on amazon but I think I might have used my chase and discover on there too =(
Everything's in order with Forward card. I just bought a battery for my video camera and a book from amazon. Both showed up with book stores in the merchant category, as it should be
It was a false statement after all.
Nerd Wallet retracted/deleted the article apparently. Another reason not to trust Nerd Wallet.
