Hello myFico Forum members,
My posture improved ever so slightly when I found out about this card. I just sent a secure message asking if a Simplicity can be changed to the Double Cash. I'm 99% sure the answer is no since Citi doesn't PC out of Simplicity very much and this is a new product.
I'll keep you posted. Please post here if you have any insight regarding a PC from SImplicity to Double Cash.
I Talked to Citi on the phone yesterday, the csr said "simplicity doesnt convert to anything, but in a month, your diamond preferred will".
She then tried to get me to apply for the double cash, but Ill hold out for now...
We tried to convert the Simplicity yesterday and we're told they can't do it until 9/7 and to call back on 8th.
Has anyone had any luck with this? I have been calling just about once a month and I keep getting similar, yet different responses from Citi.
First time I called, the CSR told me they could not change it because of the CARD Act. I asked what specifically in the CARD Act prevented them from changing me and he didn't have an answer.
Second time, a supervisor told me it was because Simplicity offers no late fees and rate hikes. Said the CARD Act prevented a PC.
Called today and a CSR told me it was due to the CARD Act. I mentioned the CARD Act only applied to rate hikes in the first 12 months. She then said federal regulations prevented Citi from PC from Simplicity to anything else.
All three said I could definitely sign up for a new product. I'm really getting frustrated because none of them will provide me with the actual legislation that is prohibiting them from doing a PC. I may just have to call and ask for their legal department next time. I would love to PC this to the Double Cash because of the rewards I could pull after I've maxed my Chase Freedom. I usually max my Freedom rewards after the first 45-50 days each quarter.
Any help here would be much appreciated.
Going to try calling Citi at lunch and request a product change from my Simplicity again. If they mention the CARD Act again, I'm going to ask to be transferred to their legal department and get a real answer. I think they're using it as an excuse to not PC my card. I've read the CARD Act and I still do not see what would prevent this PC from happening after the initial 12 months are up.
Will report back with my findings.
Bottom line is Citi does not make provisions for a PC from the Simplicity to any card however CDP is one of their products that they DO permit for PC to another card. If otherwise please feel free to update everyone.
