Hi, all. I'm a myFICO newbie. I've searched around but have had a hard time finding an answer. I have a Citi Diamond Preferred card with over 8 years with perfect history but I hate the rewards program and my limit is about 4k. I'm looking to change the card to a Citi double cash card this week and I'm up for my next CLI in late July.
Does a PC affect the CLI date? Can I request the CLI early when I do a PC?
I'm okay with another HP but is asking for 20k+ unreasonable for Citi? My other cards are over 20k in limit (nice when I have to use them for work, travel, etc). Credit score is around 780-790.
I appreciate the help!
My guess based on what I've seen posted is your CLI clock resets at the product change. So after you change the Diamond Preferred to the Double Cash, you'll need to wait another 6 months before you can request a credit increase.
As for how much to ask for, the sky's the limit. If Citi doesn't want to give you that much credit, they'll give you a counter offer. Your scores are very good, so it wouldn't surprise me if you were approved for the 20k limit you want.
Is it possible to do the PC and the CLI at the same time with the same HP?
That's kind of what I'm curious about. I'm not sure if they'll bump my credit limit when they make the PC anyways. If they did that, I'd be okay with waiting another 6 months for a CLI. Anybody know for sure?

I just received a nice CLI a few weeks back via the EO and asked for $25,000 and after a few days they called back and approved me for $22,000, also spoke to an EO in Nov. of last year about a pc from my Citi DP and I was told as soon as my into apr was expired I could pc to Citi DC. I've have the card for a year or so.
I would review the backdoor thread and call the EO number, they are great.
BillyBob2, you da man! I'll look into it. Thank you!
