Yay!!!
So my DH just applied for and is APPROVED with a $8,200 limit on his new Citi Simplicity card of which I'm an AU. So excited for him, as I have been working diligently on his scores as well. I'm pretty sure Citi checks EX scores which of course I don't know the FICO score but his Credit Sesame FAKO score is 771.
I wanted to ask:
Once he receives the card, can he call the backdoor or Customer Service# to ask for a higher credit limit? We wanted at least $15k. We have to other CC's with 20k limits.
What do you think the odds are of him getting this increase? Anyone have any experience?
Or, should we wait for day 61?
Also, do you think they will give us his true FICO score?
Thanks!
I think I've read that CITI won't CLI until at least 6 months.
I also don't think they're required to give you a score unless he was declined, or received a higher APR than normal.
Oh, Okay. He received the lowest interest rate of 12.99% and 0% on purchases and bt's for 18 mos. Okay, then I guess he can do an increase in 6 mos.
Thanks for responding
CONGRATS...I am eyeing this card as my next BT card. Then I will pursure Chase Freedom...

Thanks! Yes, that 18 mos Purchase & BT offer is awesome!
I was approved last month for a Citi Diamond Preferred with a $8,300 CL and called to request a CLI but was denied due to the account being too new. I didn't call the backdoor number though, so I don't know if that might help.

Thanks for responding h4ldol,
I think we'll just wait out the 6 mos. I was hopeful but I guess not...

Wow! Congrats!
He must have an excellent credit file. This is my favorite of the "non-rewards" cards. The low rate, 18 month 0% promo, and no late/misc fees can't be beat.
You definitely have to wait 6 months for a CLI. I know this from personal experience and from what I read here.
