I have a balance of $3k that I am wanting to transfer. App'd for Citi Simplicity and was approved.... but with a $900 limit. Ack.
I called an approvals line that I found later that day (I don't remember which one, frankly) but the (very, very nice) CSR stated that unfortunately since it was an approval and not a denial she wasn't able to change the terms of the approval. She stated approvals were "locked" to changes until the card was in my hands and activated. She suggested calling again when I received the card to see if I could get the CL increased at that time. I currently have a Diamond Preferred with a $5k line that currently has no balance, and I asked her if perhaps I would instead be able to reallocate that line to the Simplicity when I received the card, as the DP isn't really doing anything for me right now and I wouldn't have a problem closing it to get this taken care of. She stated that it was definitely possible and it is something that they do. I also have a TYP with a balance of $2.5k and line of $4.4k (0%, but it is expiring very soon so I obviously don't want to use that one)
Any ideas of what the best line to call when I try to do this is? Any other suggestions or similar experiences you can share? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you MyFicoers! (I typed MFers at first, then I realized that looks funny....)
I don't mind the HP, I guess, because I have a couple from this month already and then I'm headed to the garden for a very long time anyway. Don't really need anything new anymore (crazy thought, but true...)
Does anyone have any ideas about what phone number I should call when I go asking for this? Or any other thoughts? Thanks guys.
I applied and was approved for the Simplicity two weeks ago. I didn't get the CL I was looking for, so I immediately called the EO number on the sticky. The rep was super friendly and helpful, and submitted a request for a CLI. It took 2 days and I did get another HP, but it was worth it!
