I accidentally put in the wrong account number when paying my first payment on my Citi TYP card of $500. The amount was deducted as paid but when I go to check the status it says y was returned.
I can pay the amount but I'm wondering how this will effect my account. I'm also wondering why it shows as paid but then returned.
Call them immediately and explain. Otherwise:
Up to 29.99%, based on your creditworthiness. This APR will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate.
This APR may be applied to your account if you:
(1) Make a late payment or
(2) Make a payment that is returned.

Since is returned is it now a late payment or not? If still not late don't worry about it, if it is late I would definitely call.
You entered it wrong twice?
Every bill I've ever had to pay online they always make you enter it a 2nd time for verification.

Well, as heyarnold states, a returned payment can trigger a penalty APR and fee, so still worth calling
