sounds like they're taking extra precaution for some reason. this is the 1st time i've seen this.
normally like any other bank they would just ask u to answer some questions, and then ask you to fax in documents if necessary.
No I do not have fraud alert on my reports. I have never had accounts that were opened using my SSN,
I too thought that they would ask me some question on the phone. Apparently they had other plans.
grats!
did you apply for the cash+ in a branch or in person? that's a nice limit!
just curious, where do you reside?
if the closest branch is almost 4hours away, I would just try call EO or ask to talk to a supervisor in recon department and have them allow you to fax the documents in. Tell them you can notarize all the documents, if necessary. I wouldn't be bothered enough to make a drive just to apply for a card. if you're going on a trip for work or holiday and a branch is nearby, then you can try that perhaps.
Otherwise its their loss, not yours.
Lol thanks.
I was so pised off at the reasoning. I first talked to one underwriter and he said that my application is leaning towards an approval(theirs way of saying that it is a definite approval i believe lol) and I need to acll a certain number to verify my identity.
Then came the lightning!!!!!!!!
I am finally stable thanks to the lifeline usbank gave me.

I applied online. No problems whatsoever.
i called again, thinking I should ask for a CLI but then changed my mind lol. Who knows they might take back their offer!
I told the Citi account specialist that i can fax/mail the documents but to no avail. She was hell bent on letting me know that I have to get my identity verified at a bank branch. Eevn though I can drive for around 4 hours , I am certainly not going to. This is absolutely ludicrous!

I talked to recon. Apparently they cannot do anything about this. I HAVE to verify my god forsaken identity in a bank branch!
So I went ahead and applied for the USBANK cash+ visa. They approved me with an 8000 limit(Its my first card over 5000).
I am elated!
Congrats on the new CC! Sorry about the Citi frustration.

I really dont get how they think thats an acceptable way of soing business when the nearest branch to you is almost 4 hrs away!! Its like their doing it on purpose!
i knew Citi hates me!(I once applied in 2011 but was denied. I had no clue whatsoever about ratios and credit score then)
But this much!!!
Haha I can't wait to frame my denial letter.
