Apparantly they two are still operating as separate airlines while the AA and USA merger is going to result in one airline.
Yes, like Delta and Northwest. Like United and Continental. Like American Airlines and TWA. Technically AirTran is in transition after purchase and will become Southwest just like US Airways will become AA.
