After having Citi Diamond preferred for over 6 months with one of my smallest CL and highest interest rates, they turned me down today for a CLI. I don't know why Citi hates me so much. Discover, FNBO, and Chase Hyatt all gave me CLI's. I tried a back door number and got nowhere. I will try calling what ever number comes on my letter.

I"m sorry. You have great scores--so I am puzzled about what really want from theircustomers. If I were you, I'd try calling and seeing if you can get anywhere that way.

You know I have 2 cards from Chase and I have had to fight tooth and nail to get CLI's on both accounts, All have required hard pulls. The accounts were migrated accounts from WaMu and of course I didn't have a choice in what happened it just happened. I see people with lower scores getting auto CLI from Chase but not me. They don't seem to care to keep me as a customer or not in my case my guess is because 15 years ago I filed Banko on 3 of their cards and they have not forgiven me yet lol
but who understands what drives banks. Sorry to hear of your miss fortune on CLI's for Citi just know your not alone in this battle.

What did they say were your denial reasons?
Hi LS! Get this- on the phone the lady told me it was showing "ability to pay". They asked for income and mortgage payment amount. My income is high, 95k. I have quite a bit of debt, but I clearly have the ability to pay more than a $3000 credit line. I am a good customer And the demographic most of these accounts are looking for.
