Close this card or leave it open?

Not sure which way to go. I have a Fashion Bug card, which is one of my oldest. It has a 7 year history, all of it good, except for 1 60 day late and 3 30 day lates from 4 years ago. They did CLI this month to $300.00 which I didn't request. I sent them a GW about the lates and just got the response today saying they will not remove. I very rarely use it and am trying very hard to increase my scores. If I close it, would that help (only 5 cards instead of 6) or would losing the good recent history be worse? Any idea?

Don't close it, since it's not costing you anything. Right now, it's just adding another month of clean history to your reports, every 30 days.

Please read fused's "Closing Credit Cards", linked in my siggy.

Thanks for the response. I'll get the hang of this eventually!

A lot of it's really counter-intuitive. Believe me, we've all banged into walls and gotten lost down forest paths trying to make sense of it all. Smiley Wink
