Combine Limits Amex

Does anyone know if American Express allow for combining the limits of 2 cards and closing one of the accounts?  I have a Delta Gold with a $15,000 limit and a BCE with a $5100 limit.  I got the Delta for my honeymoon and I haven't flown since (almost a year) and I don't plan on flying this coming year.  I can't justify the $95 fee but I don't want to lose the $15,000 limit.

Thanks!

Re: Combine Limits Amex

Yes they will.  The only requirement is that the source card that you are moving the credit limit from must be open for 13 statement cycles and the the destination card must be open for 3 months.

Scores: EQ 796, EX 790, TU 807
Personal and Business Cards: 31 with 763k
High Limit Cards: CSP 50k | BoA Cash 81k | NFCU flagship 60k | Penfed Rewards 50k | Aviator Silver 52k

Great, thanks.  The Delta Card is coming up on 12 statements and the BCE is a few months older.

Re: Combine Limits Amex

I'm in a similar situation. I wanna move my 10k delta over to my 20K+ BCE bc I don't use the card enough, and I also dont wanna pay the AF.....

but the 13 month rule will make me have to pay the AF before Im able to move over the limit. heh. Maybe we would be better off PC'ing to a no AF card.

Not in my experience, and there is no such warning on the page if you do it via the web (where applicable).  They do ask you to state your income though

With those limits, you may be just as well off (and no AF) if you just close the Delta and look for the next allowed 3x CLI on the BCE. You won't be able to 3x it, but you should be able to get to 25k CL, and more than that amount you may have to start answering questions, whether that is from CLI or CL transfer.

I'm skeptical if you could PC from Delta to another non-Delta AMEX. If anyone has done that, it would be interesting to hear.

I don't think it's possible for any of their cobranded cards. I want to see if I can PC my Delta card to a no annual fee Hilton HHonors card in the meantime before I close it in July and transfer the limit over to my ED and BCE cards.

Re: Combine Limits Amex

if you can't move the limit until after AF hits why not PC now to a no AF card and then later move the CL to BCE?

I'm in a similar boat with delta gold that'd coming up to 1y anniversary. couple of weeks ago chat CSR said that I could PC to a no fee Hilton, for example. I haven't decided yet. I'd like to have an ED card if I can but without a HP.
