I'd rather read about someone closing accounts they don't use....then read about someone who continues to apply for cards after everyone on myfico tells them to stop. Not mentioning any names
Congrats on moving forward.

Not just time, but that depends on the CRA.
Lol...
Better to have closed them than maxed them. The move made the most sense for you. Keep you r balances down on the 2 you have left and don't apply for anything while your scores heal. If I were you I would freeze your reports for 12 months to force yourself to NOT app (ask me how I know this works....)
...or you could have just locked the CCs away or cut them in half to prevent needless spending.
I am all in favor of a person doing what is comfortable for them.
But what's done is done. Maybe you needed to make a drastic move to help you, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Now...that being said....don't app for any more cards and keep these two open!! And make sure to manage your UTIL well. One of them will have to post with a zero balance and the other with a balance of <10% to optimize your scores. They both could have had balances if you left two other cards open, but that's not an option anymore.
Let all of those INQs age away and just don't do anything drastic for another 6 months at least. Okay?!?
I have nearly as many closed as I have open. I never have been a big fan of store cards. Except Home Depot... I NEED that one! lol
