Consumer Closed or Creditor Closed?

My Tiger Direct cc will shut down effevtive 5/4/15. I don't have a balance..

Is it better to call in and close the account so it reports as "Consumer closed" or should I just let it report on its own as "Creditor Closed Due to No activity" or whatever the creditor uses for the CRAs?

I heard it's better to close it on your own vs having them do it for me. Your thoughts?
