Me and the wife have an old Chase Plat Visa with NO perks or rewards. It also has a small AF. A Chase rep said we can convert this card into a Freedom Ultimate Rewards Visa (I think she said Visa). I have a few questions.
- is there any difference between the Freedom Visa and Freedom MC?
- the 5% cash back in popular categories, is it for a limited time or is it indefinite?
- anything else good or bad that you can share with me
Thank you!
I had a Chase Free Cash Rewards Visa (was the Platinum Visa before) and was upgraded to the Chase Freedom with Ultimate Rewards. You have to register for the 5% Bonus categories every quarter. I also have my checking and savings with them along with the traditional Freedom Visa (3% in top 3 categories) and a PerfectCard MC. I like the new Freedom card as they give me 10% more points and additional 10 points per transaction. If you use it for small charges every month those points can add up. Plus they often run specials that you can get 20% off of gift cards from popular retailers (like Macys, Gap, etc). It isn't a bad program if you want to use it as your daily charge card. I use my other Freedom card to pay my monthly bills.
Hope this helps.
I think you have the choice of MC or VISA with same benefits.
