Then why do they have retention specialists?  They'd save some money by getting rid of the retention department, wouldn't they?

Does CapOne have retention specialist?

HSBC does. As a result they retained my business. CapOne seems pretty satisfied to let you go.

Say it isn't so. Had it been deterimined that I hung up on a customer when I worked at an Energy company part-time, I would have been terminated(LOL).  I only last 8 months. I quit!   Working for an energy company in its customer service center made me realize just how crazy some people are.  They were always trying to get out of paying there energy bill.  Suburbs of Houston, TX and New Orleans housed the most rude customers.

I used to have a front line customer contact position (non collections) where I was permitted to hang up on people (and in some circumstances encouraged to do so). If you hung up on me I was also permitted to call you right back. (Legitimately, as some disconnects are due to mobiles and cordless phones running out of charge.)

There seems to have been a major failure within this thread to recognized that the main complainant feels there will be some kind of legal consequences afoot. We'll see about that...

It's so unfortunate that you cannot seem to grasp such a simple concept.

I don't know just how simple I need to make this so that someone can understand, but the issue is that a creditor cannot lie when they decline a credit application.  Contrary to your belief that a creditor can decline anybody, anytime for any (or no) reason at all, it is simply an old wives tale.  The ECOA and various state laws have been sculptured by court decisions to mandate any decision to decline a consumer credit application must be relevant, accurate and strictly related to creditworthiness.  Dreams or fantasies that you entertain will not change that fact.

Also, I have received about three phone calls from various individuals in CrapOne's legal department and one from a personal assistant to their VP for card operations with a) an extraordinarily apologetic tone and b) requesting a conference call to see how we can come to a "meeting of the minds" over this issue.  That they are more than willing to do this at midnight their time to coincide with a decent hour in my time zone has not gone unnoticed.

O6 when you have that conference with them, please find out why Capital One's customers are stucked with small credit lines.

Ok, I will try.  I have a list of questions to ask them and will place that on my list.

Re: CrapOne's Dyslexic Blacklist

Status Update:

Had a nice little conference call with a CrapOne's credit operations management and legal department.  Not surprisingly, they had a very nice attitude and right from the start indicated that they were in error and wanted to find a way to express their desire to make things right.

The application was mistakenly declined as there never had been any type of CrapOne credit account much less ever been delinquent with an obligation to CrapOne or any other entity with which they were / are affiliated.

The CrapOne individual spoken to previously who was rude will be dealt with.  CrapOne, it was stated, does not condone or tolerate anything but treating customers and potential customers with dignity and respect.

As a token of their sincerity, CrapOne has offered to a) reimburse all incurred legal fees, b) all incurred expenses and c) immediately approve applicant for the credit for which they applied without the need to pull additional credit reports.  In turn, we are to consider that the matter has been disposed of satisfactorily and sign a General Release.

Unfortunately, there are no legal fees.  Expenses incurred were approximately $200 in long distance charges when had to call CrapOne to try and make sense of the issue after being declined.  Will accept credit card.  Will not sign a General Release, but will accept their offer in writing.

DI: I did ask them about a hypothetical case of someone being stuck with a very small CL which is never increased.  They indicated that their portfolio is broken down into different categories and that migration between categories -- even though deserved -- does not often go well.  Their suggestion, which I find lame, is that the individual close their current stagnant account and reapply.  They also did state that their credit policies are extremely fluid and change more often than even they would like.

My overall impression of CrapOne has improved.  They do seem like decent people.

However, I must warn you I still like the moniker CrapOne.  It has a nice ring to it just as Wells Fargo's moniker of "WeFee."  Now if I could only find a decent moniker for Chase.  :smileyvery-happy:

Or one for CitiBank that didn't involve a four-letter word.  :smileyhappy:
