I am paying off the remainder of my Orchard balance on the 14th of May. $180.46 before the AF and $219.96 after the AF.
I called Orchard this morning and of course the would not waive the AF of $79 but the did cut it in half to $39.50 which they did last year as well. My due date is 6/3/10 and I wanted to know if I pay my balance in full minus the AF and close my account can they still charge me for the annual fee? or is it only after the due date of 6/3/10 that they can officially charge me the fee for?
If you pay the account to zero and close it you are done. Period. The AF is paid at the beginning of the billing year, not the end.

Thanks CharlieBrown.
My AF doesnt get billed until the June 3rd statement every year with Orchard. Since June 3rd has not occurred yet I just wanted to know if I was still free from having to pay the AF so I could close the card completely.

I Know that with my orchard bank card I have up to 30 days after my AF is billed to cancel and not pay the fee, it says so on the back of my statement. my AF is due in july and I also plan on canceling my card a week or two before. If I were you I'd cancel now just so you dont have to worry about getting them to remove it
Hi khw,
I think you are right. I was going to pay it off on Friday but I might do that today. I want to wait until the payment posts before I call and close the account.
Bobby
Waiting till your payment posts is a good plan, I think as long as you close it before the AF bills it will be fine. I just think it would be easier to close it before the AF shows up on the bill, even if they do have that 30 day after the fee refund policy. I know how stubborn orchard can be, I'd rather not deal with them anymore then I have to, lol
Hey Bobby,
Congrats on your sparkling clean CR!!!
Did you see a score change when your BK's fell off? (Sorry, that's a bit off topic, but inquiring minds want to know)
Hi beam,
Unfortunately my score didnt really jump up because I currently have high utilization right now. I am working very hard at getting that resolved and I know it will jump up significantly after that.... I have had no lates since opening orchard back in 2004 a year after filing Chapter 13 BK. My current EX Fico score is 636.

Thanks Bobby. Best wishes on your good work paying stuff down. That's a great goal.
Do you mean your current Equifax Fico score is 636? EXperian Fico scores are very hard to come by.
Yes, my EQ Fico was 636 on 3/2010. I just paid the balance on my Orchard and will call tomorrow and cancel the card... It has been a long 6 years with them and only 400 cl..... cant wait to tell them to close it!!!!!
