Credit Analysts, Recon Lines, Executive Office Confusion

So I was looking at the backdoor sticky in case I needed to recon an application and I noticed that some lenders have multiple phone numbers that you can call.

While lurking on the forums I've read about people writing letters to the EO or explaining their situation to a credit analyst and I was wondering which one do you actually call or write to and what are the differences in doing so?

It varies, partly on personal preference (some people hate calling, some hate waiting!).  But there are also issuer preferences, Capital One EO prefers you initiate contact via email, and assign someone to your case, and really don't like cold calls.   And everywhere, you may run into underwriters who question why you aren't following normal processes.
