I'm so angry that I can barely type this but I need feedback while waiting for this to be sorted out.
I rec'd an alert Wed that a collection was placed on my EX report (19pt drop!). I immeditately go onto EX site to dispute because I know I don't owe anyone ANY money. When I pulled it up the OC is the medical group my general practicitioner works with. I barely slept that night and called in the morning. Apparently the specialist they refferred me to in August had sent my bills to my old address from 5 years ago! They never had me fill out any paperwork and my doctor has my current info so I assumed they would also. I see my doctor every 3 months and nothing has ever been said.
Apparently after 3 invoices it automatically goes to collections. No one made any effort to get the correct information. The rep from the office apologized, said she had no clue why they did it, took my payment ($142) and said they would call to have it updated and removed. Right after I hung up I get the alert that it's now on my EQ report (32pt drop!). I call back looking for more assurance because I'm panicking. They put me through to the person who supposidly handles the collection agency who says he asked them to send me a confirmation letter but he doesn't know how long all of this will take and I should follow up with them.
This morning I called the collection agency who says "We don't see any of that." UGHHHHHHHHH !!
I know for sure NFCU is up for AR but other cards also do them around the end of the month right? What are the chances that this fresh $142 collection will prompt a drop in a CL or closure of my cards? I'm trying to get through to the office manager to stress how urgent this needs to be removed but no one seems to understand that they are messing with a very important part of my life. I've worked hard to be a person who responsibly manages my credit after years of NOT doing it and this is SO frustrating!

I understand your anger. You're going to have to stay on thrm to get it fixed. I seriously doubt that a small medical collection will cause NFCU or any other of your lenders to take any kind of action against you. Now if it was some huge charge off that might scare them but this won't. Just keep your balances low and you'll be fine.
I will stay on them Irish thanks!
Just got off the phone with the office manager who said she would reach out to the rep for that CA and try to get it expedited. I'll give her 48 hours before I bug them again but I'm almost physically ill this is stressing me out so much. I'm sure I wont get all of those points back and that sucks.
I'm wondering if it's better for my health to just not care about my credit. LOL

Credit scores have no memory. If you can get it completley removed from your credit then your scores should go back up.
Good luck!

Nah, don't go to the other extreme. Your credit is important and it can affect a lot of your life if you don't manage it well. Getting upset about the collection is ok, just don't overthink it. It's a temporary glitch because of someone else's error and it will be fixed before too long.

Well at the very least, it's a guarantee that I'll be in the garden at least until this is all cleared up.

Oh no....don't say that! But I feel your pain and get frustrated just from reading it. So unfair. I hope you can get everything taken care of. I also do not think AA will have to be a concern for this. I wish you all the success possible. Keep us informed and stay strong, fight for it!

You don't have to go from one extreme to the other. It's important but you don't have to threaten your health or sanity by worrying over it. Be diligent and get it resolved. It's just a speed bump and not the end of the world.
19 point drop, that is notta.. Just took a 36 or was it a 37 point drop on my equifax today due to an installment loan (car) being paid off.. You would think 36.5k of less debt would make you look better... Hoping once my new lease or installment loan shows up I will get most of those point back... That hurt badly lol... I do not understand certain aspects of the FICO model at all.. CC's are the easy one for me to guessimate how much I will dip or gain.
Granted yours is a collection ... Hopefully you will get it resolved fairly quickly and all will be good! It sounds like it is going to get cleared up and if AA was going to happen you can explain it away I would think, but I truely don't even think you gotta worry about that.
I'm stressed yes, but I was joking. I just remember my reaction be so much more lax when I honestly could care less. LOL
Don't worry, I'm not going to just walk away from all my hard work. It's just that normally I was to blame for my collections. There are a whole new set of emotions when someone else screws you over.
