In January Wells Fargo called and offered me a credit card. As soon as I heard the $25 annual fee and 21% interest I said no.

Was there a point where they offered a card and you gave Income info and such.  And after that they told you you were approved for a card with an AF and high APR?

If that is the case they may not be able to stop an application that for all purposes was completed already.  They would just be giving you the details of the card

If not I would do as other suggested and have a Sup pull the call.

Hey Timothy, I just tried to check these, to see about the wait no wait thing, it says I already received my credit reports 9/29/2007. I must wait until 9/27/2008. Darn, I wanted to check it out! Weird. Did they let you do it before your year was up?

I think what Timothy was saying was that anytime you dispute online you automaticaly can see a full crdit report. Can only do this though with TU and EX. But you can get complete reports online if you have a reason to dispute something.

I think you're lucky, or something got screwed up on their ends, because I also tried and was told I had to either wait until September of 2008 or purchase them.

But thanks for trying to help.

Re: Credit Card I said no to.

If I read this right and you did NOT apply for the card and they sent you one anyway, I would write to the attorney general for your state and copy the attorney general in the state the credit card came from. If they do not have your signature and verbal approval recorded, this is um  illegal!

Re: Credit Card I said no to.

Now a signature is not necessary but an un-applied for card is.  If the OP did not make application, I would definitely at least threaten WF with legal action.  Sometimes WF offers cards in cnjunction with other loan types.  HSBC used to do the same thing with the BB store card.  People would apply and not notice the fine print and be surprised when the MasterCard appeared in the mail.

Re: Credit Card I said no to.

HSBC still does that with BestBuy. I applied for store card in Feb. and got declined for both. It was only one inquiry though.
