If I ever decide togive up my happiness, sanity, and freedomget married I would want to keep finances seperate. I am probably in the minority here but I would not be worried about my partners accounts and would not want him to be worried about mine.Me too. I don't know if I'll ever consider getting married, because I'm not really a fan of commitment or monogamy, but if I did, I would definitely want to keep our finances seperate.
I like Suze Orman's idea; three accounts - yours, theirs, and a shared expense account - and depositing equal percentages of your respective incomes into the shared expense account.
I'm a HUGE suze fan, and we actually tried that when we first got married (10 years ago, this august), but she's always made much less money than I have, and she would always come short when going to pay bills, etc, so we decided to just make a joint account.. I was actually on Suze's show, on the 'can I afford it' segment. It was so fun, talking to Suze.
Hmm... Am I the only one that hears "Credit Card wedding anniversary?"
Just wait till August.
^^^^^^^ go ahead, spit it out you know you want to ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ lol
